I was out with a new friend for a walk by one of my favorite spots in Port Credit.
We were walking around the lake, sharing a coffee in the morning and were greeted by steel grey skies and the world was still drying off after rain the night before but we weren’t too concerned.
The air was balmy, despite the ice floating in the water and the wind brought a chill with it that spoke of the cooler temperatures set to return.
The morning sun was trying its best to creep over the clouds moving in and though the cloud cover took over, I felt like I was making my own sunshine.
Sometimes, there are those you come across in whose presence you could stand in silence and feel like you were capable of having an entire conversation. It’s happened with friends and others before and I was once again counting my lucky stars that I had the opportunity to revel in that kind of beautiful connection.
She spotted it before me and said with a palpable excitement in her voice, “There’s your first heart!”
And as we kept walking, I only found more and more.
And after we stopped for breakfast, we shared a hike with a group of friends shortly afterwards.
To say that I was impressed with the Universe, is an understatement.
Sometimes you find hearts and other times you have to wonder whether or not you’re calling out to them as the contents of your own heart bubble up in excitement and wonder.
Either way, if it feels good, the lesson I learned a while ago is to go with it because no matter what happens, if you can say your heart was open enough to feel something so lovely, you’re doing life right.
