I was walking home one night after a long day at work.
It was the kind of day that left you wondering about your why and your true purpose in a given place. There was no extreme feeling or requirement to get away from a situation, though it would be an understatement to say that it was a rough day.
The music was blaring in my ears and I was forcing myself to think of all the things that even in my upset, I still had that others would love to experience. Gratitude at its finest.
I was contemplating the privileges I had that others didn’t and that I had the ability to have a miserable day in an otherwise exceptionally comfortable experience spoke volumes.
Did I really have that much to complain about or feel upset with?
Maybe.
Maybe it was just a bad day and it too would pass.
Maybe it had more to do with how little I was staying in a place of gratitude for everything that I had.
It was about that moment, when I found a heart on the pavement through my walk home.
Sometimes all it comes down to is committing to saying ‘thank you’ when it’s hard and staying positive when it feels like there is anything other than amazing things to go around.
